Imagine this - you’re wearing your favourite jeggings to work, going about your day, and you feel a lower belly cramp, followed by a trickle in your pants. You know exactly where this is going. As if getting periods on school days, then college days, and now office days wasn’t irritating enough - getting your period when you’re unprepared without any pad or tampon, amplifies the irritation several fold!
Since we work at Pee Safe- we practically have period products everywhere. The question isn’t if there are any period products - the question is, what period products do you need? Pads, tampons, cups, and the newest entrant on the block - the period panties.
Trying the Period Panty
Our pesky R&D team handed everyone our latest product the other day, the period panty. There was one with my colleague, who very sportingly decided to give it to me to try.
Now trying out an entirely new product, in a highly dynamic environment like an office is daunting, but there’s only one way to know if a product is good - try it where you will wear it!
Will a period panty be able to handle 10,000 (exaggerated) steps, several meetings, commute and more? Time to test!
First impressions of the period panty were interesting at least. I was expecting a very diaper-like fit to the panty, but it is constructed in a way that makes it narrow at the front, and wide at the back, making it actually fit like a panty. The waistband is wider than regular panties, making it feel more snug, and fitted.
There is more - does it show under the jeggings?
Thankfully, it fit seamlessly. This was quite pleasantly surprising, since even pads can feel bulky underneath fitted clothes.
Fit is Fine - How Does it Perform?
Most of us are new to the concept of menstrual underwear, and the thought of a wearable period product that suffices without using additional pads or regular panties is definitely convenient. However, the most important parameter of success in period care is performance.
Not only was the period panty quite absorbent, it also felt super comfortable to wear. No shifting of the pads, rashes or irritation.
It seemed like the kind of product you can wear to a squat rack, and also to bed. The design is very reliably leak proof and makes you feel like you can focus on what you’re doing instead of being hyper focused on stains or leaks.
